The Chicago Fire are loaning Guyanese international Omari Glasgow to Monterey Bay FC in the USL Championship for the 2026 season according to both teams.

The move makes it the second season in a row where the attacker has been loaned to a team in the second-division USL Championship, following a spell last fall with Loudon United.

The loan to USL vacates both Glasgow's supplemental roster spot and – significantly for the Fire – his international slot, clearing the path for submitting a compliant roster ahead of Friday evening's deadline.

That concern, more than questions about Glasgow's ability to make on-pitch contributions for the Fire this season, helped drive the move.

Glasgow, 22, was initially signed to a Fire II deal at the start of the team's inaugural 2022 MLS Campaign and earned a first team contract ahead of the Fire's 2025 campaign based on his performance with the reserve squad as what he showed in his first-team two appearances as part of short-term call ups in 2024.

Despite his youth, Glasgow has already become Guyana's all-time leading goal scorer at the international level, finding the back of the net 21 times in 33 caps with the Golden Jaguars.

Although Glasgow had 14 appearances for the Fire first team last season, including four starts in the MLS campaign as well as two starts in the U.S. Open Cup, opportunities dried up as the season wore on. He had just seven minutes for the first team after May 25th before being loaned to Loudon in early August.

While on loan to Loudon, Glasgow had 14 appearances for the USL side, including starts in the team's single USL Cup and playoff matches, ultimately adding two assists in 660 minutes across all competitions.

The return to the USL Championship allows Glasgow to continue to develop in the second level of the soccer pyramid, and will give Monterey Bay a dynamic attacking option – something the team could likely use after finishing one spot removed from the basement of the USL Championship's Western Conference in each of the team's first three seasons in the league.
