Chicago Fire left back Viktor Radojević has been loaned to CF Montréal for the rest of the 2026 season, sources told MIR97 Media.
The deal was completed this morning with tonight’s MLS transfer deadline looming. Radojević’s departure clears an Under-22 Initiative slot on the Fire’s roster.
In addition, Montréal has an option to extend through MLS's sprint season in the first half of 2027.
Radojević, who turned 22 this summer, is a Serbian youth international who joined the Fire last year in an exciting move from TSC Bačka Topola right before the transfer deadline. Given the form of starting left back Andrew Gutman and the Fire’s other summer business, moving on from Radojević made sense.
Injury concerns kept Radojević out for all of the 2025 season with the Fire. However, he bounced back at the start of 2026 and earned his first meaningful minutes in a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in March. That appearance was the first of ten in MLS to date, which including a strong performance in a 2-0 win over Montréal in May.
Radojević notched his first MLS assist in a recent start against the New York Red Bulls when he set up Maren Haile-Selassie to score the Fire’s lone goal in that game.
The trade is the next in the long line of moves between the Fire and Montréal. At least one player has been traded between the two clubs in every MLS season since 2017, except the 2020 COVID season. Notable players to move between the two teams include Djordje Mihailovic, Kei Kamara, Ari Lassiter, and Joel Waterman.
Radojević will be available for selection for Montréal starting with the MLS match on Saturday against the Philadelphia Union. Canadian defender Luca Petrasso has been the team's starting left back, and Radojević has a clear pathway to start immediately.
The Fire have until tonight to finalize transfer business and, in addition to Radojević, are set to close one final addition. Gregg Berhalter has already signed Robert Lewandowski, Anzor Mekvabishvili, Andreas Hanche-Olsen, and Johan Gómez in this window while parting ways with Joel Waterman, Jason Shokalook, Christopher Cupps, and Dylan Borso.
