The Chicago Fire have agreed upon a move to sign Inter Miami defender Noah Allen, MIR97 Media understands.
Negotiations advanced late on Tuesday for an initial loan that is set to be confirmed before tonight’s transfer deadline. He will be a U-22 Initiative Player, replacing the outgoing Viktor Radojević as a left back in that roster slot.
The Fire will have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for $3 million. The agreement is still pending league approval but is expected to be confirmed ahead of Wednesday evening's midnight Central Time deadline.
Allen, 22, was a homegrown player for Miami and a regular at the club for each of the past five seasons since debuting against the Fire on opening day in 2022. A native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, he switched his international allegiance to Greece in 2025.
Naturally, he will not occupy an international slot on the Fire’s roster, as he remains a U.S. citizen despite not representing the country in a football capacity.
The move is one of many that the Fire have made in the final 72 hours of the summer transfer window. Gregg Berhalter’s team enjoyed a six-game winning streak to start the month of August, which propelled them to 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and the Leagues Cup quarterfinals. They now have a very real shot at winning MLS Cup this season, hence the push for late additions.
Allen originally came up as a left back at Miami, featuring there for the U.S. Under-20s in 2022. However, he has often been used as a center back in recent years, owing to the presence of Jordi Alba, and later Sergio Reguilón, at the club. Since the arrival of Lionel Messi in 2023, very few homegrown players have carved out major first team roles, and Allen is one of the few who did.
Allan adds helpful depth at both left back and left center back for the Fire. With star lefty Mbekezeli Mbokazi set to miss, at minimum, most of the rest of 2026, the Fire are left without any left-footed central defenders, resulting in Jack Elliott getting minutes on their unnatural side. At left back, the Fire have Andrew Gutman, and recently signed him to a multi-year contract extension.
The Fire have until the end of today to finalize any transfers, when the MLS window officially closes. Free agents can still be registered until the roster freeze on October 9th. Berhalter has already signed Robert Lewandowski, Anzor Mekvabishvili, Andreas Hanche-Olsen, and Johan Gómez in this window while parting ways with Joel Waterman, Jason Shokalook, Christopher Cupps, Dylan Borso, and Viktor Radojević.
